Professor Jerzy Koch lectures to South African students

A meeting with the participation of prof. Jerzy Koch from the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań with students of the faculty of early childhood education was organized on April 26, 2024 at the Akademia (a private South African university) in Centurion.

Professor Jerzy Koch lectures to South African students

Professor Koch talked to students about Afrikaans as a foreign language, talked about his work and recited his own poems in Afrikaans. Professor Koch also referred to Russia's aggression against Ukraine, as well as the Middle East conflict. The meeting was led by Karien Brits, a lecturer at the Akademia who previously taught Afrikaans for over three years in Poland, at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. After the lecture, Professor Koch met with Ambassador Adam Burakowski at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria.

Jerzy Koch is a professor at the University of A. Mickiewicza in Poznań and the University of the Free State in South Africa, a literary scholar, Dutch and Germanist by education, specializing in Afrikaans literature and language, colonial, Dutch and South African literature.
