The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria is deepening cooperation with the South African organization TASCI in the field of youth empowerment

Ambassador Adam Burakowski recently met with Mrs. Bathandwa Kwababa, founder of the South African non-governmental organization The African Show – Coalition Institute (TASCI) and a group of South African youth.
The visit to the Embassy was an opportunity to deepen knowledge about Poland and to become acquainted with the organizational structure and activities of the diplomatic mission. For the students, coming from poorer, previously unprivileged and discriminated schools in the Gauteng province, it was their first visit to a diplomatic mission and the opportunity to gain new experiences. The students prepared a very interesting presentation about Poland, including Polish culture, history, tradition, geography, nature and economy.
During the meeting, the Polish educational and scholarship offer was discussed. Discussions also took place about the possibility of studying in Poland. The visit of high school students to the Embassy of the Republic of Poland was carried out as part of the TASCI cultural and educational project. This was the second visit of South African youth to the Polish Embassy.
TASCI's activities are focused on strengthening the position of children, youth and teachers and thus improving the quality of life. TASCI successfully organizes a professional development program for teachers aimed at deepening their methodological and pedagogical knowledge. Thanks to partnerships with a number of institutions, including diplomatic missions, TASCI organizes workshops and internships for both teachers and students. It also strives for social integration and efficient cooperation between institutions and the environment, placing great emphasis on cultivating the traditions and culture of Africans. TASCI aims to improve learning conditions in very poor and under-resourced rural areas and "townships", inhabited mainly by black or coloured people forcibly relocated during the apartheid era.
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria has been cooperating with TASCI for several years. Thanks to the help provided by the Polish mission, Sinikiwe High School was renovated, located near East London in the township of Mdantsane, one of the most poor regions of South Africa.
