The meeting was devoted to discussing current cooperation between South Africa and the OECD and ways of moving forward. The aim of this meeting was to provide information on the current state of cooperation and discuss ways of supporting the implementation of the newly signed South Africa-OECD Joint Work Programme. It was also an opportunity to present the work of the OECD and discuss the state of current relations and assess the real opportunities and prospects for the development of further cooperation between the OECD and South Africa, as the only Key Partner of the Organization on the African continent.

The opportunity to actively engage the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria in OECD cooperation with South Africa and host a meeting of OECD delegations with ambassadors of OECD member countries is a great distinction for the Polish Embassy.

Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development - an international organization with an economic profile brings together 38 highly developed and democratic countries. The organization was established under the Convention on the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development signed in Paris by 20 countries on December 14, 1960.

The OECD's goal is to support member states in achieving the highest possible level of economic growth and the highest possible level of well-being for their citizens. It also helps the poorest countries. The OECD applies the principle of equality for all members, regardless of their economic potential or contribution to the organization's budget. The basic method of decision-making is consensus developed using the peer pressure method typical of the OECD. This mechanism involves the governments of individual countries putting pressure on each other so that when making sovereign decisions on economic and social matters, the position and interests of other OECD members are taken into account.
