Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński visited Rwanda on December 4-6, 2022

On December 4-6, 2022, Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński visited Rwanda, where the MFA delegation was also accompanied by: a delegation of the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology with Deputy Minister Grzegorz Piechowiak and a delegation of the Ministry of Finance with Deputy Minister Artur Soboń, as well as an economic mission co-organized by Polish Investment and Trade Agency with Vice-President Zdzisław Sokal. During the visit, a Business Forum was held with the participation of 20 Polish companies and an Educational Forum with the participation of 7 Polish universities.
The Polish delegation met with the Prime Minister of Rwanda, Édouard Ngirente, and in addition to consulting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński also held talks with the Ministers of Finance and Economic Planning - Uzziel Ndagijimana, Education - Valentine Uwamariya, Defense - Gen. Albert Murasira and Telecommunications and Innovation - Paula Ingabire. He also gave speeches during the parallel Polish-Rwandan Business Forum (about 150 Polish and Rwandan entrepreneurs and representatives of state institutions) and the Educational Forum.
During the meetings with representatives of the Rwandan government, a number of areas were identified where further development of bilateral cooperation was deemed particularly desirable. These include: digitization of public and educational services, the use of advanced IT tools to seal the tax system, the use of solutions and technologies developed by Polish enterprises to modernize the financial sector, including the implementation of an effective and efficient cashless payment system, cybersecurity, energy efficiency, processing and storage of food and space technology.
During the visit, a number of documents setting out the cooperation framework were signed: an agreement on cooperation between defense industries, an agreement between the Polish Investment and Trade Agency and the Rwanda Development Board, and 4 inter-university agreements.
The Polish delegation also visited a tin smelter run by a Polish company (Luna Smelter) and a school for blind and visually impaired children in Kibeho run by Polish nuns and supported by Polish Aid since its establishment. A wreath was also laid at the monument commemorating the victims of the 1994 genocide (Kigali Genocide Memorial).
During the delegation, Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński was accompanied by Ambassador Krzysztof Buzalski and Katarzyna Sobiecka from the Embassy.
