The Embassy takes care of 6 cemeteries in Tanzania with the graves of Polish exiles. In 2018-2021, the Embassy carried out repairs or refurbishment of most of the Polish tombstones in five cemeteries, the plans are to renovate the sixth (last) cemetery.

The largest Polish cemetery in Tanzania and at the same time in Africa is the cemetery in Tengeru, where over 150 Polish exiles from World War II are buried. They belonged to the civilians accompanying General Anders' army during its journey from the Soviet Union to Iran and Palestine, and then were transported and settled in British colonies and territories, including in the area of what was then Tanganyika. They established Polish settlements here, the largest of which was located in Tengeru (approx. 5,000 inhabitants). At the turn of the 1940s and 1950s, some of them emigrated to Great Britain, the United States, Canada, Australia and other countries, but some remained in Tanzania.
