Polish comics for children in Tanzania
18.10.2024
Today, at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam, we had the pleasure of hosting students of one of the primary schools in Dar es Salaam. The meeting was an opportunity to read together the English-language edition of one of the most popular Polish comic books for children.
Today, together with students from Msasani Primary School in Dar es Salaam, we read Book VIII of "Tytus, Romek and A’Tomek" by Henryk Jerzy Chmielewski (English edition). We shared with them knowledge about the history of Polish comic books and their most popular authors . We have also provided them some insight into Polish geography, history, culture and science. In particular, the children could learn about Nicolaus Copernicus, who was one of the main heroes of today's reading. Each student received their copy of the comic book as a souvenir. The children also took part in a quiz on both the content of Book VIII of "Tytus, Romek and A’Tomek" and on general knowledge about Tanzania. Those who scored the most points were awarded with publications about Poland and a number of other prizes. Congratulations to all the winners!
Poland has been supporting Tanzania in improving its quality of education for many years. Therefore, we believe that the event was a great opportunity not only to share with the Tanzanian students some facts about the Polish culture, but also to encourage children to read and deepen their general knowledge about the world.
