Thanks to Polish aid, we are equipping a new kindergarten building - Holy Family Day Care - in Segerea

22.10.2021

New school furniture, mattresses as well as kitchen, laundry and playground equipment will soon serve the youngest children from Segerea, a district of Dar es Salaam, as well as the school personnel working in the kindergarten. The purchase of items from Polish Aid sources will allow the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Family to soon open a new kindergarten building – Holy Family Day Care.

The project site was visited by a representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam, Katarzyna Sobiecka, as part of the monitoring. She had the opportunity to talk with a Polish missionary in charge of a project financed within the Polish development cooperation, as well as to meet with the youngest pupils of the St. Maximilian Educational Center in Dar es Salaam and visit the newly established kindergarten.

As a rapidly growing port city, Dar es Salaam attracts many Tanzanians looking for work, including many extended families. The Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Family, including missionaries from Poland, cooperating with the St. Maximilian Educational Centre in Dar es Salaam, support working parents by providing day care and education for their children, including those in preschool age.

Due to an enormous demand on the part of the local community for such kind of help, especially in case of families where both parents work, the Congregation is currently preparing to open a kindergarten in a newly constructed building. The aim of the project implemented in the framework of the Polish Aid is to equip the latter with the most necessary furniture and appliances. The beneficiaries of the project will be both the kindergarten pupils, the teachers and auxiliary staff, as well as - indirectly - their entire families.
