We took part in the EUNIC project "Viraka Freshi" in Tanzania
01.03.2024
As part of the cooperation of the EUNIC cluster (European Network of Cultural Institutes) in Tanzania, we participated in the implementation of the project "Viraka Freshi/Fresh patches", supporting the local developing fashion sector, supported by the embassies of: France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Ireland and Poland and the EU Delegation, as well as Alliance Francaise, Goethe Institut and British Council, and also local partners: Naledi Creative Center and CDEA Fashion Incubator.
Representatives of the Embassy took part in a fashion show, which was the finale of this several-month-long project, which took place on March 1, 2024 at the French Institute. The showcased collections promoted sustainable fashion through the reuse of second-hand materials. The show enjoyed great interest from the audience and the media.
The final fashion show was preceded by 8 weeks of workshops for 11 young Tanzanian designers. The incubator included mentorship sessions dedicated to developing sewing skills such as use of professional machines, patterning, tie & dye techniques, but also marketing.
