About educational activities in Climate Programme projects

Climate at metropolis schools

October is a month when we talk a lot about education

14 October is National Education Day, a celebration of all education workers. Shortly before that, World Teachers' Day under the patronage of UNESCO is celebrated on 5 October. This is an opportunity to highlight the leading role of teacher educators in ensuring the highest quality of education at all levels. Within the Programme we strongly support educational activities and recognise the role and importance of their work.

The beneficiaries of our projects have planned to support the teaching community through various forms of qualification enhancement. These include:

EEA Grants project - Climate at metropolis schools

Another equally important activity supporting teachers in climate education is the provision of various teaching materials. In the Climate at metropolis schools project, among other things, there were developed:

  • lesson scenarios for primary school grades 4 and 5 and secondary school grades 1 and 2 regarding Mitigation and adaptation to climate change and blue and green infrastructure solutions,
  • teaching materials - appendices to the scenarios, which include multimedia presentations, educational boards, worksheets, charts, quizzes, games, inspirations and other teaching aids
  • Climate guide for 5! - guide presents solutions called blue-green infrastructure, showing the potential of plants, soil and rainwater to mitigate the effects of climate change
  • videos of project partner International Development Norway regarding climate education in Norway.

Check out what other activities are being implemented under the the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme.
