Activities of the Ministry of Environment for Polish rural areas

The Minister of Environment Henryk Kowalczyk and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski presented priority programmes concerning the removal of harmful materials and soil protection, which will be financed from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
“The cooperation between the Ministry of Environment and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development is crucial from the standpoint of making life easier for the residents of rural areas”, said Henryk Kowalczyk, Minister of Environment.
During a press conference, three priority programmes of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management were presented. These include the “National Programme for Environmental Regeneration of Soils by Liming”, "National Programme for Financing the Removal of Products Containing Asbestos,” and “Removal of Agricultural Films and Other Agricultural Waste.”
“The activities undertaken by the Ministry of Environment in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development brings good news to rural areas in Poland. These programmes, financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection, will contribute to a tangible improvement of soil quality, which will have a positive impact on agriculture,” the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, added.
About the programmes
“National Programme for Environmental Regeneration of Soils by Liming” priority programme
Objective: supporting regeneration of acidified soils due to anthropogenic factors.
Budget: 300 million PLN in 2019-2023
“National Programme for Financing the Removal of Products Containing Asbestos” priority programme
Objective: an increase in the quantity of neutralised waste containing asbestos
Budget: 170 million PLN in 2019-2023
“Removal of Agricultural Films and Other Agricultural Waste” priority programme
Objective: development of a management system for agricultural plastic waste at local level based on pilot solutions implemented in municipalities.
