The Minister of Climate and Environment, supported by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM), as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs of the conclusion of the agreement on co-financing Adaptation to climate change through the development of green and blue infrastructure in Gryfino project.

The project obtained co-financing in the call for proposals: The implementation of green and blue infrastructure in cities under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of climate change mitigation and adaptation.

About the project

The beneficiary of the project is the the Municipality of Gryfino and the eligible costs of EUR 959 963 (approx. PLN 4.1 M) are financed 85% from the EEA Grants.

The aim of the project is to strengthen the resilience of the Gryfino city to the negative effects of climate change, as well as to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the local level, through investment mitigation and adaptation activities, learning practical skills of residents, educational and information activities.  

As part of the project, the following is planned: implementation  of 11 investment mitigation and adaptation activities (among others: planting of various plant species to mitigate climate change and adapt its effects, introduction of a system of low water retention); creation of an ecological and educational zone in the Water Center "Laguna";  creating a portal describing the mitigation and adaptation activities undertaken in the project;  Polish-Icelandic conference;  educational gardens and adoption of trees;  training for urban experts  in the field of strengthening resilience to the negative effects of climate change, as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions at the local level.

Partnership

The project will be implemented in partnership with the Icelandic engineering company Verkís. 

Implementation period

The agreement for the funding was signed in December 2021, and the completion date of the project is December 2023.
