The Minister of Climate and Environment, supported by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM), as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs of the conclusion of an agreement for co-financing The implementation of green and blue infrastructure in communities located in municipalities belonging to the Union of the Wisłoka River Basin Communes project.

The beneficiary of the project is the Association of Wisłoka Basin Communes.

About the project

The project obtained co-financing in the call for proposals: The implementation of green and blue infrastructure in cities under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The project is financed in 85% from the funds of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, of which 85% comes from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) and 15% from the state budget.

The project will be implemented in the area of 17 municipalities belonging to the Association. It aims to increase the local community's capacity to reduce emissions and adapt to climate change through the implementation of green-blue infrastructure investments. It is planned to create: green areas in urban spaces, green bus stops, revitalization of two open water reservoirs, a rain garden, a flower meadow, above-ground rainwater tanks for households and public buildings, ecological solar benches, hybrid lighting.

An integral part of the project will be educational and informational activities closely related to the subject matter of the project, including conferences with the participation of Norwegian and Polish experts, workshops at investment sites, online and stationary training, photo and art contests. An important element of it will also be an educational campaign

A guidebook on good practices in green-blue infrastructure in adaptation and mitigation processes will be produced. There will be an educational event called "Youth Climate Summit" and an educational campaign called "Home Advisors."

Implementation period

The contract for the project's co-financing was signed in December 2021 and the planned completion date is April 30, 2024.
