The State Forests have once again joined the action that saves human lives

The Christmas trees prepared by the foresters to the blood donors are the unique gift, a symbol of a new life.

Sławomir Gadomski, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Health expressed his hope that the “Christmas tree for life” will initiate the cooperation between the State Forests and the National Blood Centre. The Deputy Minister noted also that the blood donors can be always counted on, even in the difficult times of pandemic.

We need to remember that blood is a gift we cannot produce

- he added.

Małgorzata Lorek, PhD, Head of the National Blood Centre emphasized that the annual number of transfusions reaches 1.5 million. This means that there are 1.5 million cases of people needing blood.

The “Christmas tree for life” action will take place on 16 December in more than 40 sites in the country, in cooperation with all Regional Blood Donation and Transfusion Centres.

Within the action, blood can be donated not only in the stationary blood donation sites, but also in the mobile points. Detailed information and list of sites to donate blood is available at www.choinkadlazycia.pl.

Let’s remember that blood is a medicine that cannot be produced in a laboratory. It can be only endowed by another human being. Only the gesture of blood donors helps the patients needing blood or its components during treatment. Blood and blood derivatives are necessary during the complicated procedures, saving lives of the accident victims and patients with chronic diseases, for example hematologic diseases.
