The Minister of Climate and Environment, supported by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM), as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs of the conclusion of the agreement on co-financing Climate-friendly school. Centre of education on climate change mitigation and adaptation in urban areas. project.

The project obtained co-financing in the call for proposals: Awareness raising activities on climate change mitigation and adaptation carried out by schools under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The beneficiary of the project is the Sendzimir Foundation and the eligible costs of EUR 271 660 (approx. PLN 1.2 M) are financed 100% from the EEA Grants. The project is conducted with the Norwegian partner PS Paaby Prosess – Edu_Action who will support Beneficiary with his experience in educational activities and will share with good practices based on Norwegian examples of similar investments and the Wawer District Office in Warsaw.

The aim of the project is to provide a comprehensive rainwater management with blue-green infrastructure around Primary School No. 195 in Warsaw's Wawer district.

Within the project, will be created 45 objects, including rain gardens in containers and ground, flower meadows, green walls and pocket parks. The project includes the active participation of the school community in the planning and implementation of the facilities.

Adaptation and mitigation actions will be complemented by information and education activities such as workshops for teachers and lessons on climate change adaptation and mitigation.  The project will result in the creation of a lesson plan on adaptation and mitigation of climate change, a guide for setting up blue-green infrastructure at schools and a two-stage training programme for teachers and school administrators, including an e-learning module and stationary trainings promoting the project results in other schools in Warsaw and across Poland.

The project will end on April 30, 2024.
