Closing conference of the predefined project Strengthening of atmospheric deposition assessment in Poland based on Norwegian experience
15.03.2024
Summary of the event
The closing conference of the project entitled ‘Strengthening of atmospheric deposition assessment in Poland based on Norwegian experience' was held on 5 March 2024 in Warsaw. The Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection together with the Norwegian Institute for Climate and Environmental Research NILU implemented the project from October 2020 to March 2024. The aim of the project was to design and implement a monitoring system allowing testing in a standardised manner on a national scale, based on modern measuring equipment.
The conference was attended by many guests, including representatives of the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the Royal Norwegian Embassy, the NILU Institute for Climate and Environment Research or the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management and the State Water Holding Polish Waters.
During the scientific conference there were presented the effects of Polish-Norwegian cooperation, resulting in the implementation of the following project components:
- the concept for modernising and optimising deposition measurements in Poland;
- the concept for launching a quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) system for deposition measurements;
- guidelines for performing atmospheric deposition assessments;
- visualisation and sharing of atmospheric deposition data via the "Air Quality" portal;
- purchase of equipment for deposition measurements.
