Considerable interest in applying for the partnership projects within the “Environment, Energy and Climate Change” Programme

21.09.2020

All calls carried out within the “Environment, Energy and Climate Change” Programme give the possibility to implement projects with a partner from Donor States (Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein). The primary goal of such projects is to initiate and reinforce networks with foreign institutions and share and confront ideas, best practices and methods with each other. Due to such partnership it is possible to gain and increase the capacity to operate at international level. All projects planned to be carried out with a partner will receive extra points during the assessment process carried out by the Programme Operator.

In the already closed calls for applications 37% of the projects are expected to be implemented with  a partner from Donor States. This number is particularly high in case of the call dedicated to green-blue infrastructure investments in cities (57% of partnership projects) and the call focusing on awareness raising activities on climate change mitigation and adaptation carried out by schools.  42% of the applicants under the implementation of ecosystem management plans call are willing to carry out the project with Norwegian or Icelandic counterparts. The call aiming at  increasing protection against invasive alien species resulted in about 25% applications of partnership projects. The Small Grants Scheme’ applicants are also interested in cooperation with foreign institution – 27% of them plan to implement  a project with a partner from the Donor State.

The third edition of the EEA and Norway grants gives the unique chance to carry out the project with entities established in Donor States and gain experience in  implementation of international projects and cooperation with expert organisations from Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein. Such projects may be a first step in a broader engagement at the European and international level. Meetings between Polish and Norwegian, Icelandic or Liechtenstein organisations and discussion  about the challenges connected with the environment, energy and climate change is one of the objective of the Programme.

Such a high interest in partnership projects is a very good news for the Programme Operator since strengthening bilateral relations between Poland and the Donor States is one of two objectives of the EEA Grants.
