Piastów City - Creation of green and blue infrastructure in the city of Piastów
The Minister of Climate and Environment, supported by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM), as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs of the conclusion of the agreement on co-financing Creation of green and blue infrastructure in the city of Piastów project.
The project obtained co-financing in the call for proposals: The implementation of green and blue infrastructure in cities under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of climate change mitigation and adaptation.
About the project
The beneficiary of the project is the city of Piastów and the eligible costs of EUR 4.6 M (approx. PLN 1.1 M) are financed 85% from the EEA Grants.
The aim of the project is to reduce the city's sensitivity to progressive climate change, prevent these changes and adapt to their effects. The project assumes the creation of green-blue infrastructure in the city: green roofs, green walls, urban greenery, green stops, fruit and vegetable farms, rain gardens, wind microturbines on green roofs, liquidation of soil vaults, creation of green pergolas over the sidewalks. The investment component has been complemented by educational and information activities aimed at raising public awareness of climate change and preventing it.
Partnership
The project will be implemented with the participation of a polish association "Green Roofs" and Norwegian Association for Green Infrastructure.
Implementation period
The agreement for the funding was signed in December 2021, and the completion date of the project is April 2024.
