The Minister of Climate and the Environment, with the support of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Program, informs about the conclusion of a contract for co-financing the project “Eradication of Sosnowski Heracleum in the commune of Debrzno in 2021-2023”.

The project beneficiary is Debrzno Commune.

About the project

The project received funding in the call for proposals for Increased protection against invasive alien species under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Program in the area of Natural environment and ecosystems.

The total cost of the project is approximately EUR 316 thousand (approximately PLN 1.4 million) and the requested amount of co-financing is approximately EUR 270 thousand (PLN 1.2 million).

It is co-financed in 85% by the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Program of the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (of which 85% comes from the EEA Financial Mechanism and 15% from the national budget).  

The scope of the project is to protect valuable species against Sosnowski Heracleum. In this commune, Sosnowski Heracleum occurs in an area of over 70 ha. In addition to the elimination of the hogweed population, activities will be carried out to increase the knowledge and awareness of the local community and to engage it in the fight against this invasive species. Techniques combining mechanical and chemical methods will be used.

Partnership

The project will be implemented in partnership with the National Center for Agricultural Support (branch in Pruszcz Gdański).

Implementation period

The agreement for the project's co-financing was signed on 18th October 2021 and the planned completion date is 2023.
