EU Climate Ambassadors’ meeting

The European Climate Ambassadors discussed in Warsaw security, competitiveness and the global role of the European Union in the climate process.
On 22 January 2025, a meeting of the European Climate Change Envoys, otherwise known as Climate Ambassadors (ECAN), took place under the Polish presidency of the Council of the EU. The Climate Ambassadors met to discuss the future of the climate negotiation process in a dynamic geopolitical context under the leadership of the Polish presidency. The talks also covered the priorities of European climate diplomacy for 2025 and the relationship between climate policy and security and competitiveness.
The year 2025 is an opportunity for a new opening in the EU's approach to global climate negotiations. Climate targets should be more strongly linked to economic and trade policy
