Green Żuławy – improved energy efficiency of school buildings in Żuławy Wiślane
The Minister of Climate and Environment with the support of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme informs of the conclusion of an agreement for co-financing Green Żuławy – improved energy efficiency of school buildings in Żuławy Wiślane project.
The beneficiary of the project is the Nowy Staw Commune.
About the project
The project received funding in the call for proposals Improvement energy efficiency in school buildings under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Program, in the area of Renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy security.
Sources of funding
It is financed in 70% from the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme funds, of which 85% comes from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) and 15% from the state budget.
Project value
The project’s total cost is 10 mln PLN (2,4 mln EUR), and the grant awarded is 7 mln PLN (1,6 mln EUR).
Thermomodernization of school buildings
The project provides a comprehensive thermal modernization with the replacement of heat sources in the School and Kindergarten Complex in Nowy Staw, in the Primary School in Kmiecin, and in schools in Wocławy and Cedry Małe. The walls and roof will be insulated, windows, doors, as well as the heating system and lighting will be replaced. Photovoltaic cells will be installed.
Education
An information and education campaign will be carried out, which will include consultations on energy conservation and the use of renewable energy sources in public buildings. Training in energy efficiency and a study visit to the Norwegian project partner, NILU will be organized.
Expected results
As a result of the project entitled Green Żuławy – improved energy efficiency of school buildings in Żuławy Wiślane, the demand for fossil fuels, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and energy consumption from non-renewable sources will decrease, which will translate directly into:
- increasing the use of renewable energy sources (RES),
- reduction of school operating costs,
- improving air quality in the region,
- improving the comfort of learning and working in school buildings, and
- increasing public awareness of energy efficiency.
Project partner
The project partner is NILU - Norsk Institutt for Luftforskning (The Climate and Environmental Research Institute). The partnership aims to prepare and implement the project using the knowledge and experience of the partner.
Implementation period
The contract for co-financing the project was concluded in August 2022, and the planned completion date is April 30, 2024.
