Improving energy efficiency in school buildings of the School Complex in Dobrocin

The Minister of Climate and Environment, with the support of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs about the conclusion of an agreement for co-financing the Improving energy efficiency in school buildings of the School Complex of Agricultural Training Centre in Dobrocin project.

The beneficiary of the project is the School Complex of Agricultural Training Centre in Dobrocin.

About the project

The project received funding in the call for proposals for Improvement of energy efficiency in school buildings under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of Renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy security.

It is financed 70% from the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme funds, of which 85% comes from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) and 15% from the state budget.

The project’s total cost is PLN 3.4 million (EUR 0.8 million), and the grant awarded is PLN 2.4 million (EUR 0.5 million).

Termomodernization

The project provides for the comprehensive thermal modernization of school buildings of the School Complex of the Agricultural Education Center in Dobrocin. As a component of the project, various tasks, including the insulation of the flat roof, external walls, and the floor on the ground, will be executed. The window and door joinery will be replaced, and the lighting will be replaced with energy-efficient LED luminaires. The electric heaters utilized up to this point will be substituted with heat pumps with a capacity of approximately 53 kW, and a photovoltaic installation with a total capacity of 30 kW will be installed.

Educational activities

The promotion plan involves the organization of three press conferences to provide information about the project’s implementation, with the possibility of visiting the establishment after the thermal transformation works are completed. The educational activities include two school lessons and one live chat with a representative of the project contractor. On the occasion of the Earth Day celebrations, a festival and photo contest are planned.

The expected effects

The thermomodernization of school buildings at the School Complex of the Agricultural Education Center in Dobrocin is meant to improve learning and working conditions, as well as reduce energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. The anticipated outcomes of thermal modernization encompass the enhancement of students’ and teachers’ thermal comfort through the replacement of windows, doors, and heating systems, the reduction of operating expenses of buildings through the implementation of thermal insulation on walls, roof, and floors, enhancement of the property’s aesthetic appeal and value through the renovation of facades and colors, and the enhancement of environmental protection through the reduction of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Implementation period

The contract for co-financing the project was concluded in March 2023 and the planned completion date is April 2024.
