Improving energy efficiency in two school buildings in Poznan

The Minister of Climate and Environment, with the support of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs about the conclusion of an agreement for co-financing the Improving energy efficiency and increasing public awareness through the implementation of comprehensive thermo-modernization and educational activities in two school buildings in Poznan project.

The beneficiary of the project is the Poznań Archdiocese.

About the project

The project received funding in the call for proposals for Improvement of energy efficiency in school buildings under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of Renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy security.

It is financed 70% from the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme funds, of which 85% comes from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) and 15% from the state budget.

The project’s total cost is PLN 6.6 million (EUR 1.5 million), and the grant awarded is PLN 4.6 million (EUR 1.1 million).

Additional funds
Following the increase procedure announced by the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the amount of co-financing for the project has increased by over PLN 1.3 million (approximately EUR 0.3 million).

Termomodernization

The project provides comprehensive thermal modernization of two school buildings in Poznań at 90 Głogowska Street and 4 Filipińska Street. Insulation and thermal insulation of buildings will be made, including insulation of the roof and flat roof, insulation of external walls and floors on the ground. The windows and doors will be replaced, and a photovoltaic installation and energy management systems will be installed.

Educational activities

As part of the implementation of the project, it is planned to introduce 8 educational activities:

  • An unplugged concert combined with lectures and workshops;
  • "Effective Norway" – a trip to Norway and meeting after return;
  • "Let's talk about energy" – spots for children and teenagers;
  • "Save the environment for me" – spot from children for parents, carers, and families;
  • Epigrams Festival;
  • Additional activities in geography, physics, and technology lessons.

The expected effects

As a result of the project the demand for fossil fuels, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and consumption of energy from non-renewable sources will decrease.

Project partner

The partner of the project is the Polsk Kultur Skole I Trondheim association operating in Norway. The aim of the partnership is to prepare and implement the project using the knowledge and experience of the partner.

Implementation period

The contract for co-financing the project was concluded in March 2023 and the planned completion date is April 2024.
