The seminar in Cracow started with the opening speeches given by Polish Ministry of Environment Undersecretary of State Sławomir Mazurek and Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment Junior Minister Astrid Knutsen Hårstad. Norwegian Junior Minister stressed out that it is the people who are in the centre of all activities tackling the climate change and transforming the economy into the low-carbon model - Their economic and social needs should be taken into account – she said. Polish Undersecretary of State Sławomir Mazurek underlined Polish engagement in the fight against smog, circular economy promotion and Polish presidency of the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The representatives of the Polish and Norwegian trade unions taking part in the seminar pointed out the necessity to ensure social security to workers from the sectors particularly affected by the low-carbon economy transition. Polish and Norwegian experts shared good practices in areas such as electromobility, green city infrastructure, energy efficiency promotion, the use of RES in the electricity generation and the Carbon Capture and Storage Technology (CCS).
