Kłodzko Town - Kłodzki Nature Based-Solution

Environment,_Energy_and_Climate_Change_Programme_MF_EOG_#climate

The Minister of Climate and Environment, supported by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM), as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs of the conclusion of an agreement for co-financing Kłodzki NBS (Kłodzki Nature Based-Solution) project.

The beneficiary of the project is the Kłodzko Town.

About the project

The project obtained co-financing in the call for proposals: The implementation of green and blue infrastructure in cities under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The project is financed in 85% from the funds of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, of which 85% comes from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) and 15% from the state budget.

Kłodzko, like other Polish cities, is struggling with the effects of climate change, which is why the decision was taken to implement the Kłodzki NBS project, which responds to the current need for green-blue infrastructure in the city. Progressive climate change has forced a different approach to the planning and design of urban spaces. A number of adaptation and mitigation measures are planned as part of the project, including park revitalisation, a green wall, greening of the 'concreted' market square and Kłodzko promenade, the creation of pocket parks and urban ecological vegetable gardens. It is also planned to give the town's residents 200 containers with rainwater harvesting systems. An interesting feature is the creation of a rainwater playground - a place collecting rainwater and using it to educate children through play and entertainment. As a result of the project, an electric bicycle rental system will be introduced in the city to encourage residents and tourists to give up internal combustion transport.

Partnership

The project is conducted with partner from Norway - International Development Norway (IDN)

Implementation period

The contract for the project's co-financing was signed in November 2021 and the planned completion date is April 30, 2024.
