Lubartów for the climate - thermomodernization of the 2nd Secondary School

Environment Energy and Climate Change Programme MF EOG #ENERGY

The Minister of Climate and Environment, with the support of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs about the conclusion of an agreement for co-financing the Lubartów for the climate - thermomodernization of the 2nd Secondary School project.

The beneficiary of the project is the Commune City of Lubartów.

About the project

The project received funding in the call for proposals for Improvement of energy efficiency in school buildings under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of Renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy security.

It is financed 70% from the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme funds, of which 85% comes from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) and 15% from the state budget.

The project’s total cost is PLN 5.3 million (EUR 1.2 million), and the grant awarded is PLN 3.4 million (EUR 0.8 million).

Termomodernization

The project provides for a comprehensive thermal modernization of the 2nd Secondary School building in Lubartów. Thermal insulation of the building will be carried out, including vertical damp-proof and thermal insulation, insulation of external and internal walls, and replacement of windows and doors. The lighting installation, ventilation, hot water, and heating systems will be modernized. Installation of a photovoltaic installation is also planned.

Education

Educational activities are aimed at promoting ideas related to renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy security. A website for the project will be created, which will also be a platform for educational activities. Biweekly magazine Lubartowiak will periodically publish educational articles along with examples of good practice. The project partner will conduct online seminars for the local community and entrepreneurs. There will also be workshops for secondary school teachers from the Lubelskie Voivodeship.

The expected effects

As a result of the project entitled Lubartów for the climate - thermomodernization of the 2nd Secondary School, the demand for fossil fuels, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and consumption of energy from non-renewable sources will decrease, which will translate directly into:

  • increasing the use of renewable energy sources (RES),
  • reducing school operating costs,
  • improvement of air quality in the region,
  • improving the comfort of learning and working in the building, and
  • increasing public awareness of energy efficiency.

Project partner

The project partner is the LMG Lighthouse Trust (Liechtenstein). The aim of the partnership is to prepare and implement the project using the partner's knowledge and experience.

Implementation period

The contract for co-financing the project was concluded in March 2023 and the planned completion date is April 2024.
