Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska in Brussels on the upcoming Polish presidency of the Council of the EU

The upcoming Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2025 was the main topic of talks between the Minister of Climate and Environment, Paulina Hennig-Kloska, with Jessica Roswall, the Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, Dan Jørgensen, the Commissioner for Energy and Housing, and Fatih Birol, the Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA). The meetings took place on December 9, 2024 in Brussels.
At the beginning of 2025. Poland will once again hold the Presidency of the Council of the EU. Poland held the Presidency of the Council of the EU for the first time in the second half of 2011. In connection with the approaching presidency, the head of the Ministry of Climate and Environment met with EU commissioners responsible for climate, environment and energy. During the talks, Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska emphasised that Poland was ready to play an active role in working out compromises that would serve the entire Union.

In a conversation with Jessica Roswall, Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive and Circular Economy, the Minister for Climate and Environment stressed the need to counter climate disinformation.
The main topic of the meeting with Dan Jørgensen, Commissioner for Energy and Housing, meanwhile, was energy security and the elimination of Russian fossil fuels from the EU energy market.
Talking about energy security
During her stay in Brussels, the Minister for Climate and Environment also took part in the 'PKEE Energy Day' conference organised by the Polish Electricity Committee. International Energy Agency (IEA) Director Fatih Birol also attended the event. He stressed that Poland will take over the presidency of the Council of the EU at a crucial moment for the EU economy.
