Modernization of technological equipment of EW Gubin
The Minister of Climate and Environment with the support of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme informs of the conclusion of an agreement for co-financing Modernization of technological equipment of EW Gubin project.
The beneficiary of the project is the PGE Energia Odnawialna S.A.
About the project
The project received funding in the call for proposals for Increasing the efficiency of energy generation in existing small hydropower plants (up to 2MW) under the Environment, Energy, and Climate Change Program, in the area of Renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy security.
It is financed 36,45% from the funds of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, of which 85% comes from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) and 15% from the state budget.
The total cost of the project is PLN 13,8 million (about EUR 3.2 million), and the grant awarded is over PLN 6 million (almost EUR 1.4 million).
The main goal of the modernization of the Gubin Hydropower Plant is to increase the generating capacity of the facility and reduce the failure rate of its operation. Among other things, two hydro-complexes will be replaced, and a third will undergo a major renovation. This will reduce the level of CO2 emissions emitted by the power plant, and the adaptation of solutions to current technical, technological and safety standards will allow the facility to operate without negative impact on the environment. It will also extend the life of the facility by a minimum of 40 years.
Implementation period
The agreement for the project funding for Modernization of technological equipment of EW Gubin project was concluded in January 2022, while the planned completion date is April 2024.
