Piaseczyński County - my TURQUISE PLANET - the action of schools in the Piaseczno poviat to improve climate change mitigation and efficiency to its effects
The Minister of Climate and Environment, supported by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM), as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs of the conclusion of the agreement on co-financing my TURQUISE PLANET - the action of schools in the Piaseczno poviat to improve climate change mitigation and efficiency to its effects project.
The project obtained co-financing in the call for proposals: Awareness raising activities on climate change mitigation and adaptation carried out by schools under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of climate change mitigation and adaptation.
The beneficiary of the project is the Piaseczyński County and the eligible costs of approximately EUR 450 567 (PLN 1,9 M) are financed 100% from the EEA Grants. The project is conducted with the Norwegian partner Norske Naturveiledere (Naturopa Consultancies), who will support the project with its educational activities and share with Norwegian perspective on this issue.
In the project will participate four schools from Piaseczyński County, where blue-green infrastructure will be created to manage rainwater and increase biodiversity. These activities will improve the microclimate and mitigate the effects of drought periods, which intensify in central Poland. Also, the effects of the project will create a visually attractive educational space, supporting various forms of activity, learning and development.
Under the project, it is planned to create, among other things, apiaries, rain gardens, green walls and water ponds. The educational activities in the project will be implemented based on adaptation and mitigation activities with the active participation of students from the involved schools.
The project starts in 2022 and is scheduled to be completed on April 26, 2024.
