New Energy Sources in MPEC Nowy Sącz
The Minister of Climate and Environment with the support of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs of the conclusion of an agreement for co-financing the New Energy Sources in MPEC Nowy Sącz project.
The beneficiary of the project is the MPEC Ltd. in Nowy Sącz.
About the project
The project obtained co-financing in the call for proposals Construction/modernization of municipal heating systems and elimination of individual heat sources under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme in the area of Improving energy efficiency and energy security.
It is financed in 45% from the funds of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, of which 85% comes from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) and 15% from the state budget.
The total cost of the project is more than PLN 13,7 million (almost EUR 3,2 million), and the grant awarded is over PLN 4,6 million ( about EUR 1,1 million).
As a result of the project, MPEC Nowy Sącz will gain the status of an efficient district heating system. In addition, the project will affect the reduction of so-called "low emissions" and decrease the consumption of non-renewable primary energy. It will also contribute to a decrease in CO2 emissions and reduce dust emissions into the atmosphere.
Events
On April 8, 2022, a contract was signed for the construction of a biomass boiler with technical infrastructure. The installation is expected to be built by the end of September 2023. The investment will increase the energy efficiency of the district heating system, increase the production of renewable energy from biomass, reduce the consumption of fossil fuels for heat production, which will reduce harmful emissions to the environment.
Nowy Sącz residents will gain the opportunity to use environmentally friendly system heat.
Partnership
The project will be implemented with a partner from the Donor State, the company Norsk Energi. The partner will provide substantive support to the Beneficiary, which will be used, among other things, at the stage of carrying out an information campaign on the impact of the project on the environment.
Implementation period
The project co-financing agreement was concluded on December 15, 2021, and the planned completion date is April 30, 2024.
