Compendium "Ecosystem services in the management of natural systems"

The culmination of this work is a handbook entitled “Ecosystem services in the management of natural systems”, published on the project website (polish version), which presents opportunities for the practical application of the concept of services provided by different ecosystems. As stated in the introduction, this item can also be used as a textbook at university level and can also serve interested experts.

URBAN RIVER VALLEYS ECOSYSTEMS The potential of ecosystem services for climate change mitigation

The Sendzimir Foundation project, carried out in partnership with Phronesis SA of Norway, began with a geo-survey of Warsaw residents to gather information on how residents perceive the city's rivers and watercourses and what functions they fulfil. The results of the survey were used for further work, training and publications. The project included a series of expert meetings, training sessions and conferences.

Guidebook on Sustainable Development - Applications

The result of the project is a guide to the issues involved in shaping river valleys in urbanised areas. It contains examples of inspiring good practices realised for the protection of urban river valleys, for increasing the efficiency of their service delivery, and for communicating these topics effectively. The examples come from Poland and the world. The publication is addressed to all those with a professional interest in the specialist issues of river valley protection. It is available in Polish and English on the project website.

A description of the project can be found in its business card available in the EEA Climate Programme Project Database.
