“Does the European Green Deal have a chance to be implemented in the light of the pandemic?” was one of the questions that the participants of the webinar organised by the Polish Institute of International Affairs in cooperation with J. Delors Institute tried to answer. The event, which was held on 6 October 2020, were attended by Minister of Climate Michał Kurtyka.

Impact assessment of the possible increase of the EU emission reduction target for 2030 was the main topic of the informal meeting of EU environment and climate ministers. The event, which took place on 30 September and 1 October this year was attended by Vice-Minister of Climate Adam Guibourgé-Czetwertyński.

“The pilot programme for district heating plants, which was launched in 2019, confirmed the great interest in supporting local district heating systems. Now is the perfect time to implement the next stage and extend the programme. Today we open the call for applications under the new rules. We have reserved 500 million PLN for co-financing investments that will facilitate the transformation of district heating systems”, announced the Minister of Climate Michał Kurtyka.

Preparing enterprises and local governments for cooperation on hydrogen fuel in transport was the main subject of the Polish Conference on Hydrogen Energy and Technology. The on-line event, which took place on 29 September 2020, was attended by Vice-Minister of Climate Ireneusz Zyska.

Minister of Climate Michał Kurtyka launched the works on a pilot programme, which will offer financing of thermal upgrading and heat source replacement in multi-family homes. The Western Pomeranian Voivodeship will be one of the regions, where the pilot programme will be implemented.

Transition plans for the Polish energy sector were one of the topics mentioned during the videoconference between the Minister of Climate Michał Kurtyka, and the EU Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton.

“I hope that the YCC will lead to constructive dialogue and active participation of youth for climate protection and sustainable development. Together, we will create a climate policy for Poland” said the Minister of Climate Michał Kurtyka during the first official meeting of the Youth Climate Council, which took place on 25 September 2020 in Warsaw.

Cooperation in the field of offshore wind energy in Poland was the main subject of a videoconference with the signatories of the letter of intent signed in July 2020. The event, which took place on 24 September 2020, was attended by Vice-Minister of Climate, Government Plenipotentiary for RES, Ireneusz Zyska.

the Minister of Climate Michał Kurtyka held a video conference with Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans. The main topic of their meeting was the proposal for a new EU climate objective for 2030, announced on 16 September by President Ursula von der Leyen.

The European Commission's proposal to increase the emission reduction target by 2030 was the main topic of the meeting of Visegrád Four, along with representatives of Bulgaria and Romania with Jochen Flasbarth, Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of Germany. The talks, which were held on 17 September 2020, were attended by Vice-Minister of Climate Adam Guibourgé-Czetwertyński.
