Pobiedziska Commune - Green and blue Pobiedziska
The Minister of Climate and Environment, supported by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM), as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs of the conclusion of an agreement for co-financing Green and blue Pobiedziska project.
The beneficiary of the project is the Pobiedziska Commune.
About the project
The project obtained co-financing in the call for proposals: The implementation of green and blue infrastructure in cities under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of climate change mitigation and adaptation.
The project is financed in 85% from the funds of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, of which 85% comes from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) and 15% from the state budget.
The aim of the project is to increase the municipality's resilience to climate change through the implementation of green-blue infrastructure investments, as well as to influence the improvement of environmental awareness through the implementation of educational activities affecting behavioral change among residents. Topics of educational activities include climate change, promotion of good practices in this area.
Through the implementation of tasks affecting the increase of permeable surfaces, rainwater management, plantings, there will be an increase in the municipality's resilience to negative phenomena resulting from climate change. The project includes: urban greening system (greenery plantings, rain gardens) and water management (restoration, use of permeable surfaces). As part of the project, a network of bicycle racks will be created and educational and promotional activities will be carried out to draw attention to cycling as an alternative to cars.
It is assumed that the main effect of the project will be the creation of infrastructure that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase the area of green space, and improve rainwater management. The environmental awareness of residents will also be improved.

Implementation period
The contract for the project's co-financing was signed in November 2021 and the planned completion date is April 30, 2024.
