•    The NRC is a government agency created in 1974 by the US Congress to ensure the safe use of radioactive materials and ionising radiation.
•    The agency handles the licensing and oversight of entities and facilities that use radioactive materials and ionising radiation, including nuclear power plants and X-ray equipment.
•    Deputy Ministers Miłosz Motyka and Maciej Bando met with Christopher Hanson - President of the NCR, to agree on the development of strategic relations with the USA in the context of the construction of Polish nuclear power plants in line with the Polish Nuclear Power Programme.

Cooperation with the US significantly contributes to Poland's climate transition and the comprehensive modernisation of the Polish energy system. We recognise the benefits of nuclear power and its value as a major industrial technology making a significant contribution to the fight against climate change and to socio-economic development.  Particularly in light of Russia's aggression against Ukraine – when it is necessary to ensure energy security,

- said Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment Maciej Bando.

On 2 November 2022, the Polish government adopted a resolution recognising the need to build the first nuclear power plant based on the US AP1000 reactor technology.  Construction of the first such unit will begin as early as 2026. Ultimately, three AP1000 reactors will be built in Lubiatowo–Kopalin, a coastal municipality in Pomerania.
