Polkowice Commune - Green-blue infrastructure in Polkowice

The Minister of Climate and Environment, supported by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM), as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs of the conclusion of an agreement for co-financing Green-blue infrastructure in Polkowice project.

The beneficiary of the project is the Polkowice Commune.

About the project

The project obtained co-financing in the call for proposals: The implementation of green and blue infrastructure in cities under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The project is financed in 85% from the funds of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, of which 85% comes from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) and 15% from the state budget.

The aim of the project is to increase the Polkowice Municipality's resilience to climate change, adapt to its effects and counteract its behavior while raising the environmental awareness of the public.

The project involves the implementation of adaptation and mitigation measures, including the creation of green courtyards, installation of bicycle racks and construction of bicycle paths, introduction of drainage and small retention, execution of plantings, construction of a green wall, filling the road lane with vegetation, regulation of the park water system, restoration of an infiltration retention ditch.

The project also aims to promote solutions that every person can reach for every day to improve air quality, increase the use of rainwater, minimize the amount of energy consumed.

Activities have been planned to activate the community's residents, such as: "Green-blue wheel of fortune", "Climate in the time of Netflix", "Grandma, grandpa, mom, dad - family together for the eco-world!" and an event under the theme "Festival of colors green-blue Polkowice".

The project is conducted with partner from Norway Aquateam COWI AS

Implementation period

The contract for the project's co-financing was signed in December 2021 and the planned completion date is April 30, 2024.
