The Minister of Climate and Environment, with the support of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs about the conclusion of an agreement for co-financing the project “The programme protecting domestic flora of Sanok's county against invading species, their spreading and infiltrating into the area of the International Reserve of Carpathian Biosphere - continuation”.
The project beneficiary is Sanok County.
About the project
The project received funding in the call for proposals for Increased protection against invasive alien species under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Program in the area of Natural environment and ecosystems.
The total cost of the project is approximately EUR 350 thousand (approximately PLN 1.5 million) and the requested amount of co-financing is approximately EUR 300 thousand (PLN 1.3 million).
It is co-financed in 85% by the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme of the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (of which 85% comes from the EEA Financial Mechanism and 15% from the national budget).
The project aims to strengthen the resilience of ecosystems to climate change activities by eradicating the Sosnovski hogweed, which is found in an area of approximately 25 ha. It is implemented in 10 Municipalities: Besko, Bukowsko, Komańcza, the City of Sanok, Sanok, Tyrawa Wołoska Zagórz, Zarszyn (Sanocki County), Jaśliska and Rymanów (Krosno County).
The project includes also educational activities to raise public awareness, aimed primarily at the local community as well as farmers and tourists. The project is a continuation of activities carried out in 2014-2017 also from the Norway Grants.
Partnership
The project will be implemented in partnership with the Municipalities of: Besko, Bukowsko, Komańcza, City of Sanok, Tyrawa Wołoska, Zagórz and the State University in Sanok.
Implementation period
The agreement for the project's co-financing was signed on 2nd December 2021 and the planned completion date is April 2024.
