The Minister of Climate and Environment, supported by National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM), as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs of the conclusion of the agreement on co-financing The Schools of a Good Climate - construction of educational green zones in primary schools no. 1 and no. 4 in Kozienice to mitigate climate change and adapt to its effects project.

The project conducted by The Kozienice Commune is one of the best projects submitted under the climate call dedicated for schools under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme.

About the project

The project obtained co-financing in the call for proposals: Awareness raising activities on climate change mitigation and adaptation carried out by schools under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The beneficiary of the project is the Kozienice Commune and the eligible costs of approximately EUR 621 363,00 (PLN 2,7 M) are financed 100% from the EEA Grants. The project is conducted with the Norwegian partner Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU).

Two municipal schools participate in the project. As its aim is to combine educational and investment activities to raise awareness on climate change mitigation and adaptation, the project involves for example the creation of green walls, eco-gardens and small water retention as well as the planting of non-invasive plants and fruit trees. The project will be complemented by an educational campaign on climate change and the preparation of educational.
