Thermomodernization of Public Primary School No 2 in Olesno

Environment Energy and Climate Change Programme MF EOG #ENERGY

The Minister of Climate and Environment, with the support of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs about the conclusion of an agreement for co-financing the Thermomodernization of Public Primary School No 2 in Olesno project.

The beneficiary of the project is the Olesno Commune.

About the project

The project received funding in the call for proposals for Improvement of energy efficiency in school buildings under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of Renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy security.

It is financed 70% from the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme funds, of which 85% comes from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) and 15% from the state budget.

The project’s total cost is PLN 14.5 million (EUR 3.3 million), and the grant awarded is PLN 9.7 million (EUR 2.2 million).

Termomodernization

A comprehensive thermal modernization of the building of Primary School No. 2 in Olesno will be carried out. Among other things, insulation of external walls and insulation of flat roof will be made. Windows and doors will be replaced. Photovoltaic cells with a capacity of 49.68 kW, heat pumps with a capacity of 305.16 kW will be installed and the lighting will be replaced.

Educational activities

Educational activities are aimed at promoting ideas related to renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy security. It is planned to organize a total of three conferences devoted to the project, including the preparation of a theatrical performance promoting energy efficiency. Trained teachers will lead interest groups in the field of solutions conducive to energy efficiency. In addition to the theoretical part, there will also be a workshop part, consisting of the self-construction of a birdhouse and then hanging it on the school premises.

The expected effects

As a result, the project will reduce energy consumption, increase the use of energy from renewable sources and reduce the negative impact of the building on the environment by reducing CO2 emissions.

Implementation period

The contract for co-financing the project was concluded in March 2023 and the planned completion date is April 2024.
