Thermomodernization of the VII Secondary School in Bydgoszcz
The Minister of Climate and Environment, with the support of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs about the conclusion of an agreement for co-financing the Thermomodernization of the VII Secondary School in Bydgoszcz project.
The beneficiary of the project is the City of Bydgoszcz.
About the project
The project received funding in the call for proposals for Improvement of energy efficiency in school buildings under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of Renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy security.
It is financed 70% from the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme funds, of which 85% comes from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) and 15% from the state budget.
The project’s total cost is PLN 6.1 million (EUR 1.4 million), and the grant awarded is PLN 4.1 million (EUR 0.9 million).
Termomodernization
The project provides for a comprehensive thermal modernization of the building of the 7th Secondary School in Bydgoszcz. Thermal insulation of the building will be carried out, including insulation of the facade, floors and flat roofs. Windows, doors, radiators, and the entire plumbing system will be replaced. A photovoltaic installation with a planned capacity of 33 kW will be installed on the roof of the school. The roof of the gymnasium will be replaced and mechanical ventilation with a heat pump will be installed. Both internal and external lighting will be replaced, and the building will be equipped with an electronic control system.
Educational activities
Educational initiatives are intended to promote concepts pertaining to renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy security. In order to demonstrate a broad understanding of the subject of ecology and the understanding of the concept by the youth of Bydgoszcz, it is planned to organize two editions d educational workshops, and an art competition. A group of interests is to be formed, with activities occurring regularly throughout the school year.
The expected results
As a consequence of the implementation of the project, the utilization of fossil fuels, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and energy consumption from non-renewable sources will decrease.
Implementation period
The contract for co-financing the project was concluded in February 2023 and the planned completion date is April 2024.
