During the recently concluded summit of Ministers of Environment of the Visegrad Group V4 countries, the representatives debated about the methods of protecting pollinating insects, as well as issues related to beneficial solutions for waste management system.
Protection of pollinating insects
Due to the importance of pollination for food production and biodiversity conservation, Poland supports initiatives aimed at protecting bees and other pollinating insects.
I would like to stress that the Polish Ministry of Environment undertakes many initiatives aimed at protecting pollinating insects, including bees, such as restoring and maintaining non-forest ecosystems in national parks. The amount of flowers in meadows is also increasing,
said Vice-Minister Sławomir Mazurek.
The use of Circular Economy in V4 countries
The countries of the Visegrad Group, along with the invited representatives of Bulgaria and Romania presented solutions currently employed in the national economy systems. “Poland currently considers implementing various solutions within the waste management system, including the introduction of a deposit system for selected types of packaging.
The aim of the adopted solutions within the waste management system will be to promote the effective use of raw materials obtained from plastic waste thanks to recycling and introduction of Circular Economy principles,” said Sławomir Mazurek, Vice-Minister of Environment.
At the same time, the Vice-Minister assured that the EU ban on the marketing of disposable plastic products would be immediately introduced into Polish law.
