MEERI - Water-CE-management in practice

Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme #GOZ

The Minister of Climate and Environment, with the support of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs about the conclusion of a contract for co-financing the project Water-CE-management in practice - developing comprehensive solutions for water recovery and raising awareness of the key role of water in the transformation process towards a circular economy (CE).

The beneficiary of the project is the Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences (MEERI).

About the project

The project obtained co-financing in the call for proposals Strengthened implementation of Circular Economy under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The project is co-financed in 85% by the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Program of the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (of which 85% comes from the EEA Financial Mechanism and 15% from the national budget).

The total cost of the project is over EUR 373 000 (about PLN 1.6 M), of which the maximum amount of co-financing is over EUR 317 000 (over PLN 1.3 M).

The aim of the project is to protect Poland's water resources through the development of an innovative method of water recycling from sewage and rainwater/snowmelt, which will be implemented as a pilot project in the project partner enterprise. Also as a result of undertaken activities, the transfer of knowledge and good practices in the field of circular water management from Norway allow to create the Atlas of good practices in water management in different areas of activity (households, enterprises).
Among the beneficiaries of the project will be not only entrepreneurs and specialists in the water and sewage industry, and the academic community (students, PhD students, researchers), but also adults, young people and children participating in workshops, conferences and campaigns promoting the objectives and principles of the circular economy.

Partnership

The project is being implemented in cooperation with GreenBack Sp. z o. o. and Fundacja Optimus, while the Norwegian partner in the project is Aquateam COWI AS.

Implementation period

The agreement for the funding was signed on 30th June 2022, and the conclusion date is scheduled for April 2024.
