Climate-friendly school. Center of education on climate change mitigation and adaptation in urban areas project
Educational pathway by the school
As a result of the Sendzimir Foundation's project entitled Climate-friendly school. Center of education on climate change mitigation and adaptation in urban areas, implemented under the EEA Climate Programme, an educational pathway has been created. It leads you along the places facilitating retention such as those that stop rainwater where it falls and presents solutions that were created by the school. Each stop on the path refers to a different nature-based solution that has been created on the schoolyard. These include:
- a flower meadow,
- rainwater storage,
- permeable paving,
- rain garden in the ground,
- rain garden in a container,
- vegetable garden and composting,
- pocket park,
- green wall,
- green roof.
Feel, touch, get inspired!
Visitors can find out how the various facilities work and why they are being used, as well as receive detailed guidance on how to implement similar solutions themselves.
The path can be used both on the spot - by looking at the solutions in the space - and virtually - via the project website (click on the link).
Adapting the city to climate change under your own steam
The green and blue infrastructure solutions used in the project help to reduce flooding in the surrounding area, but also provide an educational training for the local community and other education facility managers.
