Poland in Malta

The First Lady participated in a program prepared for the Spouses of leaders attending the Arraiolos Group Meeting. On 6th of October, at the invitation of Miriam Vella, the Spouse of the President of the Republic of Malta, together with the Spouses of the Presidents of Latvia, Estonia, Ireland and the Spouse of the President of Hungary - Agata Kornhauser-Duda visited Palazzo Falson and the Cathedral of St. Paul in Mdina.

On 6th of October in Valletta Andrzej Duda took part in the Arraiolos Group Meeting together with the presidents of 11 European Union countries. The EU's united stand against Russia's war on Ukraine is a clear success, President of Poland said where he is attending sessions of the Arraiolos Group.The security of the eastern and southern flanks, EU cohesion policy and the latest challenges facing the Community were discussed as well.

On 5th of October at San Anton Palace, President Andrzej Duda and First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda took part in an unofficial dinner hosted by the President of Malta George Vella and his Spouse - Mrs. Miriam Vella. The dinner began the meeting of the Arraiolos Group presidents who came to Malta to to attend the sessions on 6th of October.

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Valletta organized an exhibition entitled ‘Mom I don't want war’ prepared as part of the Polish-Ukrainian project of the State Archives and Mom I See a War Initiative. The exhibition can be seen from 19th of September till 3rd of October at The Lower Barrakka Gardens in Valletta.

On the 7th of September an article by Polish Prime Minister entitled „Topicality of the World War II history” was published in 'The Malta Independent'.

Please be advised that on the initiative of the Embassy of Poland in Malta, the plaque commemorating Polish soldiers killed in Malta during World War II was renovated. The plaque is located at the main entrance to the Royal Navy Cemetery in Kalkara (also known as Capuccini Naval Cemetery).

On June 18th, at the Faculty of Archaeology of the University of Malta, a conference was held, which was devoted to the participation of Polish soldiers in the fighting in Malta during World War II, the history of ORP 'Kujawiak' and its mission within the 'Harpoon' Operation and the history of the search for the shipwreck.

On June 16th, exactly on the 80th anniversary of the sinking of ORP 'Kujawiak' together with thirteen Polish sailors, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Malta commemorated this tragedy in a special way.

On June 15, on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the sinking of the Polish destroyer ORP Kujawiak off the coast of Malta, in the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta, fights commemorating this tragedy. On the night of June 15/16, 1942, thirteen Polish sailors lost their lives.

On May 12th, H.E. Ambassador Tomasz Czyszek met with Hon. Ian Borg, the new Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade to discuss ways to strengthen Polish-Maltese bilateral relations. They also reiterated the need to keep working together to support Ukraine.
