9th meeting of the Joint Polish-Flemish Commission

On Wednesday (22 September), the 9th meeting of the Polish-Flemish Joint Commission was held in Warsaw under the chairmanship of Bartosz Grodecki, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Interior and Administration and Julia Bynens, Secretary-General in the Department of Administration and Foreign Affairs of Flanders.
During the meeting, a new cooperation agreement between Poland and the Government of Flanders was signed. The Programme contains 15 thematic chapters of bilateral cooperation, which will be implemented in 2021-2023. The collaboration will involve, among others: education, culture, tourism, transport, agriculture, environment and social policy. Important events will include joint celebrations of critical historical events, e.g., the commemoration of the participation of soldiers of the 1st Armoured Division under the command of General Stanisław Maczek in the liberation of Flanders from German occupation in September 1944.
The Agreement on Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Poland and the Government of Flanders signed on 6 June 1994 constitutes the basis for contacts of the Republic of Poland with Flanders and its language community.
