Ban on the movement of tractor trailers and semi-tractor trailers registered in the Russian Federation and Belarus

31.05.2023

Two days ago, on 29 May, Minister Mariusz Kamiński signed a regulation amending the regulation on temporary suspension or restriction of border traffic at selected border crossings. The regulation suspends cross-border freight traffic at border crossings with the Republic of Belarus for trucks, tractor units, tractor trailers, as well as semi-tractor trailers and combination vehicles registered on the territory of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation.

The new regulations are a response to the calls to tighten restrictions on Russian and Belarusian transport operators using tractor trailers and semi-tractor trailers registered on the territory of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation to circumvent the sanctions imposed on them.

The suspension of border traffic will take effect on 1 June 2023.
