Meeting of Minister Tomasz Siemoniak and Minister of Justice of Japan Ryuji Koizumi

On Wednesday, 7 August 2024, Minister of the Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak met with Ryuji Koizumi, Minister of Justice of Japan. The meeting concerned the current situation on the border with Belarus. The ministers also discussed the challenges associated with taking in Ukrainian refugees and collaboration geared towards helping Poland’s eastern neighbour.

The Polish Minister of the Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak pointed out that Poland implemented a number of measures to reduce irregular migration through the Belarusian route. The ministers exchanged experiences concerning establishing a migration strategy.

The Polish-Japanese relations concerning security, support for the allies and the exchange of experiences on migration are fundamental to the relationship between our countries.

Minister Tomasz Siemoniak highlighted the close cooperation between Poland and Japan in the area of providing aid to Ukraine in its fight to repel the invasion, the partnership between our uniformed services and bilateral measures aimed at ensuring global security.
