Meeting of the Minister of the Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak with the German Federal Minister of the Interior and Community Nancy Faeser

Today, Tomasz Siemioniak, Minister of the Interior and Administration and the Coordinator of Special Services, met with the German Federal Minister of the Interior and Community Nancy Faeser. Their conversation was focused on the instrumental use of migration, cooperation between Polish and German authorities, as well as the priorities of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council. Deputy Minister Maciej Duszczyk and German Ambassador to Poland Viktor Elbling also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the politicians also talked about the impact of the reinstated border checks along the German-Polish border, as well as measures aimed at returning to the open border policy.
The attending ministers also focused on the need to reform the European migration and asylum system and exchanged information concerning refugees from Ukraine, as well as the need for the European Union to provide support for the Member States hosting the largest groups of refugees.
Following the meeting, the Polish and German interior ministries went to the Polish-Belarusian border, where they will discuss the current situation. Poland will outline the measures taken to date in order to secure its eastern border - the external border of the European Union.
