Minister Tomasz Siemoniak met with Carl-Oskar Bohlin, Minister of Civil Defence of Sweden

Minister Tomasz Siemoniak visited Stockholm on Wednesday, 19 February. The head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration travelled to Sweden at the invitation of the Swedish Minister of Civil Defence, Carl-Oskar Bohlin. The meeting was a follow-up to the talks that took place on 2 October 2024 in Warsaw. The discussion revolved around the challenges concerning protecting the European populace, civil defence and the need to strengthen our resilience. Deputy Ministers Maciej Duszczyk and Wiesław Leśniakiewicz also participated in the talks.

Minister Tomasz Siemoniak met with Carl-Oskar Bohlin, Minister of Civil Defence of Sweden

The visit of the Minister of the Interior and Administration, Coordinator of Special Services is a follow-up to the agreement on the Strategic Partnership between Poland and Sweden, which was signed by the Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk and Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson during a meeting in Harpsund on 28 November 2024.

The partnership envisages strengthening cooperation between Poland and Sweden in matters of security and defence in the Baltic Sea region, intensifying bilateral partnership in the areas of civil protection and civil defence, as well as migration and protecting the Schengen area border.

During his visit to Stockholm, Minister Tomasz Siemoniak also held talks with the Minister for Migration Johan Forssell and Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer. The main topics of these meetings concerned internal security, combating organised crime and the European Union's migration and asylum policy.

The Minister of the Interior and Administration also met with the acting Director of National Intelligence, Head of the Intelligence Coordination Office of the National Security Council - Carl Fredrik Wettermark.
The talks with the Swedish side resulted in the signing of a Statement of Intent between the Ministry of the Interior and Administration and the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Sweden during the visit. The document concerns strengthening partnership in the fields of civil protection and civil defence.
