The ministers talked about improving the situation at the German-Polish border.

During the conversation, they also stressed the importance of the letter of the German, Polish and Czech prime ministers to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, concerning the financial burden of hosting Ukrainian refugees carried by some European states.

One of the main topics of the ministerial meeting was the improvement of the situation on the Polish-German border resulting from reinstating border checks by the German side. The ministers agreed to hold a working group meeting on the Polish side of the border in the near future. The group of representatives of all authorities and services involved in the process will be led by deputy ministers of the interior.

The ministers also touched upon the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border and agreed to increase joint efforts aimed at combating trafficking.

The ministers agreed to relaunch talks of ministers responsible for national minorities, representatives of the German minority in Poland and representatives of the Polish community in Germany.

The meeting of Minister Tomasz Siemoniak and Minister Nancy Faeser was a follow-up to the talks held on 21 June in Berlin.
