Polish-Moldovan police exercise #MissionMoldova – accomplished

10.05.2023

On Tuesday, 9 May, a multi-day exercise of police units from Poland and Moldova ended in Chisinau. The activities aimed to allow our Moldovan partners to gain new experience in providing security during the organisation of critical international events with the participation of foreign delegations. At the end of the joint activities, officers from the special police subdivisions of both countries symbolically flew in a Polish Black Hawk helicopter over the Grand National Assembly Square in Chisinau, presenting the Moldovan and European Union flags.

Police Black Hawk in the air

Two flags, those of Moldova and the European Union, are proudly borne aloft by the Black Hawk flying over Chisinau today, completing a police exercise. This is an expression of support for Moldova's aspirations for full independence from Russia and the European aspirations of our Moldovan partners

– said Minister of the Interior and Administration Mariusz Kamiński.

The Minister's words were echoed by Moldovan Minister of Internal Affairs Ana Revenco, who expressed thanks for the symbolic support for the Moldovan government's actions.

On the occasion of Europe Day, we celebrate unity and camaraderie by flying the flags of Moldova and the European Union over the capital. I thank Minister Mariusz Kamiński for the opportunity our colleagues have had to learn within a framework of mutual respect and appreciation.

Polish-Moldovan exercise

A group of 11 officers from the Central Counterterrorist Police Subdivision ‘BOA’ and the Police Aviation Board of the  GSP KGP were in Moldova for several days. They shared their experiences and trained officers of ‘FULGER – the special forces unit of the Moldovan Police.

The experience and knowledge passed on by the Polish police officers may prove particularly useful in the context of the European Political Community Summit planned for June, which is being organised in Moldova.

Thanks to our colleagues from the Central Counter-Terrorist Police Subdivision "BOA" and airpersons from the Police Aviation Board of the GSP KGP, we gained new experience and completely new skills. I hope that this is the beginning of permanent cooperation between our units

– emphasised the Commander of the special forces unit of the Moldovan Police ‘FULGER’.

Participants in the exercise took part in shooting training with small arms and long rifles. They also discussed tactics for combat operations, the protection of persons, including VIPs, and emergency response scenarios involving the movement of vehicles with these persons.

Using a police S-70i Black Hawk helicopter, under the watchful eye of instructors from CCPS ‘BOA’, the Moldovan police officers also practised landing and evacuation in a touchdown, followed by light hovering and rope techniques. The degree of difficulty changed with each planned exercise. All scenarios were carefully prepared and took into consideration a wide variety of conceivable situations of counter-terrorism operations.

The several-day training workshop was concluded with a ceremonial presentation of certificates to the Moldovan officers of the ‘FULGER’ unit and a parade of the subdivisions.

Thanks to the joint exercises, we are better prepared to fight our common enemy: terrorists and other offenders. It is an honour for us to have met you and to be able to train side by side for these few days. I would like to thank the commander of the "FULGER" unit for the exceptionally warm welcome in Moldova and the wonderful receptivity

– said the coordinator of the exercises from ‘BOA’ during the workshop’s closing ceremony.
