The temporarily reinstated border checks on the Polish-Slovak border extended until 3 December 2023

Following the emergence of a significant threat of illegal immigration, the Minister of the Interior and Administration has decided to extend the duration of temporarily reinstated border checks along the national border with the Slovak Republic for the period from 23 November 2023 to 3 December 2023, in order to ensure internal security and public order.

Furthermore, addressing the concerns of the public, several of the existing pedestrian border crossings will now handle vehicle and cargo traffic to the extent permitted by road parameters, with the exception of buses and vehicles designed to carry more than 7, as well as up to 9, occupants (including the driver). These changes concern the following border crossings:

  • Konieczna;
  • Niedzica;
  • Łysa Polana;
  • Chochołów;
  • Winiarczykówka;
  • Ujsoły;
  • Bór;
  • Jaworzynka – Čierne – Skalité;

The restrictions concerning the passage of citizens of EU Member States, Member States of the European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as well as the Swiss Confederation, their spouses and children remain in force.

In special circumstances, the Commander-in-Chief of the Border Guard may authorise persons and vehicles to cross the state border at other locations.
